Summer Engagement Portraits in Kulm Hotel, St. Moritz
One of the joys of being a photographer in St. Moritz is meeting people who arrive from all over the world to experience the Engadin in their own way. This summer, I had the pleasure of photographing Rebecca and Murray, a warm-hearted couple from Scotland who came here to enjoy the mountains and spend their days mountain biking along the trails.
What made their trip even more special was the fact that during their stay, Murray proposed to Rebecca. To celebrate this milestone, he reached out to me for a casual couple portrait session. We decided on the elegant Kulm Hotel, a place that perfectly blends St. Moritz’s alpine charm with timeless sophistication.
On the day of the shoot, Rebecca and Murray radiated joy. There’s something unique about photographing a couple who have just gotten engaged—the emotions are fresh, the smiles are uncontainable, and every gesture feels naturally full of meaning. My role was simply to create space for them to be themselves while capturing their connection in a way that feels authentic and true to their story.
Inside the Kulm Hotel, the light was soft and flattering, and the classic interiors gave the portraits a refined atmosphere. I also encouraged moments of playfulness, letting their personalities shine through. The result was a series of images that reflect both their love story and the elegant setting of St. Moritz.
For me, sessions like this are a reminder of why I love what I do. Photography becomes more than just a collection of images—it turns into a way of preserving a moment in time, a celebration of love in a place that already holds so much beauty.
