Italian Character — Gennaro & the Lancia Delta Integrale

 

Some cars come with more history than others.

The Lancia Delta Integrale hardly needs an introduction. Its shape, its rally heritage and the names associated with it have made it one of the defining performance cars of its era.

Gennaro’s Delta carries one particularly special detail: the signature of Miki Biasion the man who won back-to-back World Rally Championships with Lancia in 1988 and 1989.

For this series, the idea was simple: photograph Gennaro and the car as one story.

We headed up the Albulapass and worked into the last light of the day with the landscape gradually changing as the sun dropped behind the mountains. It was exactly the kind of setting that suits the Delta: open road, Alpine scenery and a little bit of drama without needing to manufacture any.

Alongside the wider automotive images I wanted portraits, details and quieter moments that made the car feel personal rather than simply iconic.

The Delta already carries plenty of history.

A sunset on the Albula Pass just gave it the right stage.
