The ICE St. Moritz 25′

Every February, St. Moritz transforms into a paradise for classic car enthusiasts, with The International Concours of Elegance (The ICE ) taking center stage on the frozen lake. As a local photographer, this event is one of the highlights of my year—an opportunity to capture automotive history in an alpine dreamscape unlike any other.

The Magic of The I.C.E.

Unlike any other concours event in the world, The I.C.E. combines the elegance of vintage automobiles with the breathtaking scenery of the Engadin valley. Classic Ferraris, Bugattis, Porsches, Aston Martins, and other automotive icons take to the ice, their polished chrome reflecting the crisp winter sun. It’s a visual feast, made even more dramatic by the contrast of roaring engines against the serene, snow-covered mountains.

The Atmosphere: Elegance Meets Adventure

Unlike the manicured lawns of traditional concours events, The I.C.E. embraces a spirit of adventure. Owners and collectors aren’t just here to showcase their cars; they’re here to experience them. Watching a 1930s Alfa Romeo slide gracefully across the ice or a Lamborghini Miura catching reflections of snow-capped peaks is something that never gets old. The atmosphere is exclusive yet inviting, where fine champagne meets the smell of high-octane fuel, and luxury furs mingle with racing overalls.

As a photographer in St. Moritz, The I.C.E. is more than just an assignment—it’s an inspiration. It’s a reminder of why I love capturing the fusion of art, engineering, and nature. Every year, new cars, new faces, and new moments make this event feel fresh, yet timeless. And as I review my images at the end of the weekend, I already find myself looking forward to the next edition.

For any car lover, The I.C.E. is an event that must be experienced at least once. For a photographer, it’s an endless canvas of motion, light, and history, set against one of the most stunning backdrops in the world. Until next year, St. Moritz—I’ll see you on the ice.
